Weekend Dish: Deconstructed Smoothie, as it were.
Inspired by the good men (and woman) of Green Hope, we decided to branch out from creamy, meat-y recipes and veer toward the healthful abundance of summer flavor that is the local summer fruit salad. Our favorites include some herbs for complexity, and honey and lemon for sweet, tart preservation purposes.
This Saturday, you can access the most succulent cantaloupes from Pleitez, the best berries and peaches from Kuhn, with mint from Radix or basil from Open Book. This salad would pair well with a sweeter bourbon, or else a nice Gewurztraminer (yes, we said it), or else a Belgian tripel.
The best recipes are oftentimes the simplest, it seems- a summery local fruit salad is just that.
