SNAP BONUS DOLLARS
PCM’s 2011 season brought the introduction of acceptance of credit cards, SNAP benefits, and WIC. In an effort to eliminate affordability as an obstacle to access to fresh, local produce, PCM also launched a bonus dollars program. This program matches SNAP/WIC spending up to $10. Users of this program can come to the market manager tent during each market in order to participate in this program.
PCM also participates in DC’s Produce Plus Program, which is designed to increase access to healthy and nutritious food options for income-eligible District residents. DC residents that participate in the following programs, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, (WIC), Commodity Supplemental Foods, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, (TANF), Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program(SNAP), Supplemental Security Income(SSI) and Medicaid are eligible to receive 2 (two) $5.00 checks once per day per market visit. Visit the market manager tent to get your checks! This program runs May 1 to September 30.
